mills Ted Hazen's website

Ted Hazen was, in his words
Master Miller, Millwright, Millstone Dresser; Consultant on grist mills & flour mills, water wheels & turbines, millstones, millstone grinding, & millstone dressing; long & short system roller mills; operating mills & mill restoration.

America's Leading Authority on the Restoration, Operation, Interpretation and Preservation of Historical Grist and Flour Mills.
He wrote extensively for publications such as Old Mill News, and from 1996 onwards had a huge and somewhat rambling website titled Theodore R. Hazen & Pond Lily Mill Restorations. The pages are primarily concerned with US water mills, but much of the material, especially the millwrighting and millstone dressing stuff has wide applicability.

Ted Hazen died in 2013, aged 64, and his website was unmaintained after that. Since it was hosted by the free Angelfire hosting service, even with no updates, the sites pages lived on for more than a decade. However, in early 2026, Angelfile shut down, and all websites it hosted disappeared. As well as the main website, Ted had other linked websites also often hosted at Angelfire - I've no idea if this was done specifically to separate the material thematically, or whether it was to counter restrictions Angelfire may have had over hosting or maintaning large websites.

As I have previously done for the website of Tio Kinke, I have put together a page that provides links to prime parts of Ted's material, utilizing archives of the Wayback Machine.
