    Mansfield
Details

Stamford Mercury, 14 January 1779

We hear from Mansfield, that the Members of the Sick Clubs in that place have contributed a sum of money out of their respective boxes, and built a wind-mill, for the benefit of those families that belong to the Members of the different clubs: In October last they began to sell flour at the following reduced prices, viz. the best bread flour at 1s. 4d. per stone; the best fine four at 1s. 6d. ditto, and other sorts in proportion. Before this plan was established, they paid the millers for the best flour 1s. 7d. and for the best fine 1s. 11d. The number supposed to be served from this mill is computed to be 1500, and no person hath any advantage at buying at it, but such as belong to the clubs, unless there be a sufficient quantity of flour to spare.
