This is a
glowing photo of the Baltic Flour Mills, showing the building
bathed in the wonderful evening light.
The building is now the Baltic centre of contemporary art, and was converted
from the building that housed the grain silos for
Rank Hovis's 1950's quayside mill,
opening in its converted form in July 2002.
The Baltic, and in fact the whole of the twin cities of Gateshead and Newcastle (joined by the
Millennium Bridge)
got a lot of
media coverage this week, thanks to a
photo
shoot
and installation by
Spencer Tunick on 17th July, featuring the architecture of the cities, and 1700 nudes.
