Images of England is an ambitious plan to create an archive containing a picture of all 300,000 plus listed buildings in England. It started out as a Millennium funded project, and has continued since. Unfortunately the rate of posting resultant images to the website had fallen well behind the rate at which the volunteer photographers were producing them (I know at first hand - I was one of the many photographers involved).

I noticed today that the site has undergone a bit of a redesign, simply because my carefully crafted links to the site (which all had to take the form of a button, due to the poor design of the site, which did not allow for normal linking) had stopped working. I'm very pleased to see that the new design has both added a lot more images, and also allows for normal links to the entries. Thus I'll be very shortly updating all my UK county pages to link to the newly accessible entries.

There are 700+ listed windmills, of which about half are currently illustrated with a photo in the archive. A further 420 entries include the word "watermill".
