Constructed in early 1800's, outlasted the salt works which closed in the 1890's, and remained standing through to the 1930's.

The June 1961 issue of Essex Countryside shows a photo of this wind pump by Douglas Went, but incorrectly captions it as a 1920 photo of a salt mill at Frinton, Essex.

Entry in Mills Archive database - #9678 - Saltworks Windpump, Southwold

It was built before 1820. It ceased work c 1900 and was demolished in the late 1930s.
