Wind Engines - Windpumps and American style windmills
Although not limited only to America, wind engines in the form of agricultural
windmills, (often of metal construction), used for pumping water (and later
generating electricity), appeared in their hundreds of thousands across
the American landscape. As such, they have their own appeal, and a place
in the history of man's harnessing of the power of the wind.
The sites listed below are not particularly representative of the choice of
information to be found on wind engines on the Web - they are rather
simply a few of the sites I happened to come across when searching for
sites dealing with more traditional style windmills!
